Ineco will provide technical support for the implementation of the Spanish single ticket

.

The Spanish Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has commissioned Ineco to carry out the technical support work to define and implement the single ticket in Spain, scheduled for 2026. The commission has a budget of €950,000.

The single ticket will allow citizens to travel around the country using different means of public transport for a single price for a given period.

In its first phase, it will include urban, metropolitan and statewide PSO transport, as well as public bicycle systems, excluding commercial rail services. In the future, it is planned to incorporate shared mobility options.

In the last year, the Ministry has been working on a technological solution that is already being tested and that allows the interoperable use of different travel cards in different operators. The aim is to develop a technological standard for all operators participating in the single ticket programme.

This system is inspired by successful models such as the German Deutschlandticket, used by 17 million people.

The initiative also seeks the collaboration of regional and local administrations to promote territorial cohesion and the use of public transport. In addition, a competitive price will be defined to reflect the added value of the system.
