The production of the new suburban and Rodalies trains manufactured by Alstom for Renfe has reached an important milestone. Once the factory tests have been completed, approval for the national rail network will begin in the next few weeks.
This was announced by Minister Óscar Puente during a visit this morning to the Alstom factory in Santa Perpetua, Barcelona, where the external image of the Rodalies trains was unveiled.
The certification of the 452 series will be done using three pre-series trains in parallel. The 452-001 will be the first to hit the track in the next few weeks and will be followed shortly by the 452-002 and the 452-003 still in production.
Certification by the ESFA is expected to be obtained in 2025, at which time production of the rest of the series will commence.
The new series belongs to the French manufacturer’s Coradia HC platform and is a customised version for Renfe.
These trains will have a maximum speed of 140 km/h and a capacity of 905 persons in a 6 pax/m2 configuration.
