Renfe has promoted combined train+bus tickets and renewed and extended its agreements with the bus companies Alsa and Avanza.
These agreements, announced at the International Tourism Fair (Fitur), aim to offer travellers more flexible and sustainable transport options through combined train+bus tickets.
The collaboration with Alsa, which dates back to 2012, allows the AVE network and other rail services to be extended to destinations without direct train connections. Notable routes include links to Benidorm, Altea and Calpe from Alicante, as well as connections to the Portuguese Algarve from Seville.
The agreement with Avanza focuses on improving connectivity in Aragon. This alliance makes it possible to travel from towns in Huesca such as Benasque, Jaca and Barbastro to large cities such as Madrid, Seville and Malaga. In addition, a special service has been implemented connecting the Huesca AVE with the ski resorts of Astún, Candanchú and Formigal during the winter season.
Both agreements provide for the possibility of dynamically adding new routes, provided that the minimum connecting time requirements are met.
This initiative, apart from widening travel options for users, promotes a more efficient use of infrastructure.
