Rail & Truck takes delivery of first three EURO 6000 locomotives from Stadler

.

Stadler Valencia has delivered the first three EURO6000 locomotives for the operator RAIL & TRUCK, which will operate the new Algeciras-Zaragoza rolling highway.

These electric locomotives, ordered by RAIL & TRUCK (a joint venture of Ecorail and Marcotran), were formally received at the end of December. They are part of an order of seven locomotives acquired through Alpha Trains by leasing.

In addition, as the route will use non-electrified sections, RAIL & TRUCK will also have four diesel locomotives from Stadler’s EURO4001 family, the successor to the successful EURO4000. These will be owned by Alpha Trains and will be used by the operator on a rental basis while Adif carries out the electrification work.

The Algeciras-Zaragoza rolling highway is strategic for the transport of goods, connecting one of the most important ports in the Mediterranean with the Zaragoza Logistics Platform.

This service is expected to significantly reduce lorry traffic, as currently, more than 40,000 heavy goods vehicles use the port of Algeciras every month.
