Metro de Madrid beat its all-time record in 2024 after recording 715,208,882 journeys, an 8% increase over 2023. It also exceeds the number of journeys made in 2007, the year that held the current record, by 27 million.
The celebration of Black Friday, on 29 November, was the event that concentrated the most passengers in the history of the company, with nearly 2.8 million passengers in a single day. October was the month with the most journeys recorded, with more than 69 million, exceeding the figures recorded in 2019, as reported by the regional government in a statement.
In terms of lines, line 6 was the most used, with 116,054,842 journeys, followed by lines 1 and 10.
Sol station is the station with the highest number of passengers, with more than 73 million. It is followed by Avenida de América, Príncipe Pío and Nuevos Ministerios.
These figures are in line with other public transport systems such as the Valencia metro, which also set an all-time record in 2024 despite the effects of the DANA.
