European Sleeper arrives in Venice with FS Treni Turistici

.

European Sleeper reached the Italian city on its second journey on the Brussels-Venice winter night train.

On its first journey on 5 February, the train had to end its journey in Innsbruck, Austria. However, its passengers were able to reach their destination without delay on a train of the Austrian public operator ÖBB.

According to what the company confirmed to Trenvista, they negotiated an agreement with the operator Arenaways to run in Italy. However, for reasons that have not yet been revealed, the agreement was never signed, and RFI did not allow the train to run on its tracks.

Thanks to a partnership with FS Treni Turistici Italiani, the train could cross the Brenner Pass without interruption, stopping at Bressanone, Bolzano, and Verona before arriving in Venice. Two E402 locomotives with FS TTI decoration provided traction.

The Venice-bound train left Brussels Midi on 4 March and will return from Venezia Mestre station tomorrow. This seasonal train’s last journey of the season will depart from Brussels on 12 March and from Venice on Sunday, 16 March.
