Spain’s Secretary-General for Land Transport, Marta Serrano, has inaugurated the new Albal station of the Valencia Cercanías network today.
With an investment of 6.7 million euros, the station now offers 74 daily trains on lines C-1 and C-2, connecting Albal with Valencia city and the towns of La Costera, La Safor, and La Ribera.
The new station is located between those of Catarroja and Silla, about 1,100 m from the first. The October floods damaged it before it was put into service.
It has two vestibules, vending machines, 210-metre platforms, an accessible subway and a car park for 74 vehicles. The station results from an agreement between Adif and Albal Town Council, with 57% and 43% co-financing, respectively.
This new infrastructure, the 66th of the València Cercanías Core, aims to boost the use of the railway in the province and decongest the stations of Silla and Catarroja during rush hours. The general secretary, Marta Serrano, highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to sustainable mobility and the Cercanías.
