Adif and Exolum have signed an agreement to develop a rail logistics network that will connect Exolum’s facilities to Adif’s network.
This initiative will facilitate the transport of CO2, ammonia, methanol, biofuels and other raw materials, offering an immediate and low-impact solution for the energy products of the future.
Although no data on the possible traffic has been disclosed, sources familiar with the project affirm that it will have a significant impact on rail freight transport.
The project, coordinated by the Office of the Atlantic Corridor Commissioner, will include a strategic study on rail infrastructure capacity and feasibility analysis for new sidings and access. The network will take advantage of existing infrastructure, allowing for rapid implementation and minimising environmental impacts.
This collaboration will promote intermodality and sustainable freight transport, according to Pedro Marco de la Peña, president of Adif. Ignacio Casajús of Exolum stressed that the alliance will optimise the logistics of new products through an efficient transport network.
The agreement reinforces the commitment of both entities to innovation and sustainability, positioning Spain as a leader in logistics solutions for the decarbonisation of the energy and transport sector.
