The Public Works Agency of the Andalusian Regional Government has awarded the contract for the third section of Line 3 North of the Seville Metro for 173.4 million euros. The winning joint venture is formed by Vías y Construcciones, Lantania and DSV Empresa Constructora y Ferroviaria.
The project covers 1,013 metres of the route between Avenida de San Lázaro and the intersection of Calle Muñoz León and Ronda Histórica. This section will include a station next to the Virgen Macarena Hospital, which will serve as an interchange with the future Line 4.
Construction will be carried out using a cut-and-cover tunnel, with excavation to a depth of 20 metres. Line 3 North, with a total length of 8.9 kilometres, will connect Pino Montano with Prado de San Sebastián, linking up with line 1 at this station.
It is estimated to serve 120,000 inhabitants and reach 13.3 million annual users. The project is co-financed with European Feder 2021-2027 funds and is part of an agreement between the Andalusian Regional Government and the Spanish Government, which is contributing 50% of the total cost of the works.
