Siemens Mobility has secured four contracts worth EUR 670 million for the HS2 high-speed rail project in the UK.
The German company will be responsible for implementing key infrastructure and long-term maintenance systems on the new 225-kilometre line connecting London to the West Midlands. The infrastructure will be built by a consortium formed by Ferrovial and BAM.
Contracts include the implementation of the first automatic train operation (ATO) in GoA 2 over ETCS level 2, the design, manufacture, installation and testing of ETCS level 2 itself, an engineering management system for real-time control and monitoring of railway equipment, and the supply of high voltage power supply systems in collaboration with Costain Ltd.
Michael Peter, CEO of Siemens Mobility, said the HS2 project will transform rail travel in the UK, offering faster and more reliable journeys.
The contracts will start in 2025 and include maintenance agreements for up to 15 years.
