The Supervisory Board of Deutsche Bahn AG has given the green light to the sale of its logistics subsidiary DB Schenker to the Danish transport and logistics group DSV. The transaction, valued at €14.8 billion, is scheduled for completion in 2025, subject to the receipt of all necessary regulatory approvals.
DB Supervisory Board Chairman Werner Gatzer described the sale as an ‘important milestone’ for the company, enabling it to concentrate on the structural modernisation of rail infrastructure in Germany and on green passenger and freight transport in Europe.
Deutsche Bahn CEO Dr Richard Lutz highlighted that the proceeds from the sale will significantly reduce DB’s debt, thereby enhancing the group’s financial stability. Furthermore, DB Schenker will benefit from the strategic guidance of DSV.
DB Schenker, with 72,700 employees across 1,850 locations in 130 countries, will continue its growth trajectory in collaboration with DSV, which has committed to investments of one billion euros over the coming years to support expansion.
